Horn of Plenty, 41 High street, Poplar E14

Poplar index

A carpenter and undertakers in 1845. At 265 Poplar High Street from at least 1847 to 1866 and earlier before renumbering; and always at the junction with Wade street. Definitely no longer listed as a beer retailer by 1932.

[Because of road numbering changes & errors in early census, do not confuse this Beer House with the Eagle Brewery & Tap]

It would appear that Thomas Radford owned The Horn of Plenty; plus 8 & 10 Duckett Street as listed in the Property ownership record of electors in 1905 albeit as mentioned earlier Thomas died in 1882! ***
The reason I have mentioned this is because I have a copy of a solicitors letter dated 1914 in respect of inheritance from Adah’s estate, this letter mentions “The Black Horse and other premises Duckett Street, Stepney”. As I have not found any mention of a pub called The Black Horse in Duckett Street, maybe this was number 10?
