In 1836-7, it was opened by William Lindsey, carrier, (who had vacated the White Hart previous to its demolition.) He carried it on till his death. He was succeeded by his widow. Henry Vining followed, and he was succeeded by his widow.   - Inns of the Parish to 1903 - George Sweetman.
