Morning Advertiser 22 March 1852 - Aplications for New Licenses. :
Mother Shipton, corner of Maldon road and Prince of Wales road - the license was opposed to Robert Wilby, on behalf of James Stone, of the British Queen, Ferdinand street, and William winks, of the Newberry Arms, Maldon road, and submitted that there was no necessity for another licence in this neighbourhood. It was true that the Newberry Arms, was licensed last year for the purpose of supplying requisite accomodation. Mr Clarkson supported the application, and said that new houses had been built in thie vicinity of his clients house since last year, and a great number were about to be built - license granted.
