I am researching Richard Sillitoe and his son Purney. **
Richard Sillitoe came from Market Drayton in Shropshire and was born in 1743. The second son of a butcher, he was apprenticed to a Wax Chandler in London.
When he was admitted to the Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers in 1766, his address was recorded as Bakers Coffee House, Exchange Alley and his occupation as Coffeeman.
All his children were baptised at St Mary Wolnoth and in his will he says he is "late of Exchange Alley".
Richard made a considerable fortune, leaving investments of over £30,000 when he died in 1810. That would be a couple of million today!
