John Crick was the incoming Licensee in June 1868, when the family moved from the Old Horns Beer House, 23 Warner Place South, Bethnal Green. ***+
On the 1871 census it didn't give the name of the pub. John was my great x 2 great Uncle. I noticed that you had no details of when he left the Prince Albert, only new tenants on the 1881 census. John Crick died in November 1873, he was buried with his parents in Bury St Edmunds but his address was given as Black Friars Road on the burial record.

His son John and daughter Sarah Ann Crick are listed as tenants at the Prince Regent, 111 East Road, Shoreditch on the 1881 census.***+
The elder John's brother William was listed at The Fountain, 211 Lower Clapton Road, Hackney in 1860 and finally my 2 x great grandfather was a barman at the Crown & Anchor, 96 Euston Road, St Pancras, Middlesex on the 1861 census. He gets a mention at the Hope, 15 Tottenham Street, St Pancras. My great Grandmother was born there June 1868, 2 of her siblings were born in there Feb 1870, one died in June, so perhaps that's why they didn't stay at the Hope for long.
They moved to the White Hart at Stoke Newington.***+

In 1911, Fred was listed as being 22, a licensed victualler, born in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Alice was 7 years older, no occupation, born in Potters Bar. The couple had been married 2 years but at the time of the Census, did not have children. Ernest JOYCE was 35 and was listed simply as “Explorer” but there is a Wikipedia article about him which has him as a polar explorer. Hards fought in WW1 as a pilot in the RNAS/RAF, being Mentioned in Dispatches and awarded the DSC and the DFC. After the war, he remained in the RAF rising to become Air Vice-Marshal in 1940; and listed as such in 1955 in his mothers probate; and later Air Officer Commanding Aden. There is also a Wikipedia article about him. *

My interest in Hards is that I am gathering information about him for the Lives of the First World War website. *
