My Grandfather William Goodliffe (known as Will, Bill or Billy) was a manager for four pubs owned by The Cornbrook Brewery.
William Goodliffe was Landlord at the Navigation, 2 Elm street, Water Street, Manchester from 1930 to 1936;
the landlord at the Neptune, 3 Masonic Street, Murray Street, Manchester from 1935 to 1936 ;
and the landlord at the Pork Butchers Arms, 7 Chapman St, Oldham Road Manchester from 1936 to 1942.
He was the landlord at the Golden lion from 1942 to September 1953 when he died at the age of 69.
