In September 1868 on being leased for an annual rent of �20 from Mr Thomas Bradley by Welsh�s Lion Brewery it turned from a private residence into a beer house, it�s address then being 1 Grace�s Buildings. It was sold on to the Old Shirley Brewery who later sold it on to Barlow�s Victoria Brewery, when it closed in 1931 it was under the ownership of Brickwood�s Brewery, after which it was used as an office for the Phoenix Coal Company, until it�s demolition in the 1960�s You can see from the position of the Gasometers that it�s site now sits under St Mary�s Stadium. Originally it was called Belvedere Inn (note spelling), it was also locally known as the Mud & Duck, due to one of the landlords keeping ducks on a muddy piece of land next to the Pub, the Belvidere Arms and the Belvidere Inn from 1908. *

Notoriety: Not a customer friendly establishment, in September 1914 the then landlord Mr R Needham was fined 5/- for assaulting one!  *
