I have a connection with the White Hart Inn in Poole. It was opened in 1838,
and the landlady was Mrs Sarah Hunn. She stayed there for a couple of years
until she let it to tenants. *
Hampshire Advertiser on 27 October, 1838 :
POOLE, October 27.
On Friday evening last, the opening dinner at the White Hart Inn, High
Street, took place, when about thirty gentlemen sat down to an excellent
dinner, served up in Mrs. Hunn's usual good style; the wines, in particular,
gave great satisfaction. The song and glass went merrily round, and the
party did not break up until a late hour, being highly pleased with the
attention paid them. The worthy hostess is the widow of the late respected
Richard Hunn, late of the Angel Inn. *
